Air-conditioning is the single most common cause of mould in Singapore homes. Cold air chills ceilings, walls and vents below the dew point, and the moisture that forms feeds mould right around the unit. Four Solutions removes aircon-related mould and helps stop it returning.
Why aircon causes mould
- Condensation. Cold surfaces near the unit collect moisture that mould grows on, especially on the ceiling and the wall behind the fan coil.
- Long running hours. Bedrooms cooled overnight stay damp where airflow is poor.
- Trunking and ledges. Mould also appears along aircon trunking, vents and window ledges near the compressor.
How we treat aircon mould
We remove the mould with professional biocide instead of painting over it, apply anti-mould protection where suitable, and advise on reducing condensation, such as ventilation and humidity control. Note that we treat the affected surfaces; heavy mould inside the aircon unit itself may need servicing by an aircon specialist.

Frequently asked questions
Why does mould grow right under my aircon?
Cold air from the unit chills the ceiling and wall below the dew point, so moisture forms and mould grows on it. It is condensation, not dirt.
Will treating the surface stop it coming back?
It helps, but you also need to reduce the condensation through ventilation and humidity control. We advise on this, and eligible work carries warranty options.
Do you clean the aircon unit as well?
We treat the surfaces around the unit. Mould inside the aircon itself is best handled by an aircon servicing specialist.
